Taylor Swift has dazzled fans with her wildly popular Eras Tour for more than a year, and after nearly every show, clips go viral for various sweet or hilarious reasons. This time around, however, the pop superstar screaming mid-song sparked debate among fans.

On night two of her Munich, Germany, stop, Swift unexpectedly screamed while singing “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” during her Tortured Poets Department set. The July 28 moment set off a wave of online speculation. Was it part of the show? Or did something happen to scare or injure Swift?

A TikTok user who shared a clip of the screech captioned the video with, “taylors scream after she lost her balance on the platform.”

Of course, some Swifties came prepared with jokes, with one TikTok user writing, “who’s afraid of little old me (afraid version),” and another echoing, “Who’s afraid of little old me (eagle’s version).”

Others were concerned for the 34-year-old, like one TikTok user who commented, “The scream is so cute but she seems in pain😭.”

Someone else speculated, “i think it was something with her ear monitor because she almost immediately rips it out😭.”

Meanwhile, another fan pointed out, “People keeping saying earpiece malfunction…but I think bug to the face. Sounds like a bug to the face scream.”

“I feel like she leaned back too far and the pole kinda pinched her or something…maybe that’s why she yelped?” yet another Swiftie theorized.

Still, others expressed that Swift’s scream was simply part of the performance. One TikTok user explained, “for everyone saying ‘she seems in pain’ or ‘she was falling’ ITS NOT. it’s a screech she does to add more spice to the song, like in the dbm chorus.”

A second agreed, writing, “it’s normal!! she’s already done this scream at my show! she just wanted to add something new to the song.”

Meanwhile, the “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” clip also appeared in an Instagram post shared by a Swift fan account, which declared, “The screech omg okay haha.”

“The 1989 seagull makes her first appearance at Eras Tour 🤗,” one commenter quipped.

Another Instagram user wondered, “guys why did she scream did she fall or something😭.”

Someone else wrote, “SHE’S JUST GETTING MORE AND MORE CONFIDENT OF HER TTPD ERA 🫡.”

Next, Swift will take her Eras Tour to Warsaw, Poland, for three nights on Aug. 1, 2 and 3, before traveling to Vienna, Austria, on Aug. 8, 9 and 10.
