Like the USA men’s basketball team, the USA women’s basketball team also failed rarely to prove their worth on the international stage. The USA women’s basketball team kicked off their Paris Olympics journey by beating Japan 102-76.
A pile of USA fans gathered to enjoy the dominance of the USA women on the Paris court. Among them, a die-hard Caitlin Clark’s Japanese fan appeared to steal the limelight prior to tipoff in Paris. A young man was spotted holding up a banner that read, “You need Caitlin Clark to beat us.”
As he garnered the spotlight, his actions did not go unnoticed. Fans did not hesitate to laugh at the hilarious act of the fans. In the eyes of fans, Clark is not necessarily a demanding star to beat the opponents on the international stage.
“They definitely don’t, but the sign is still funny,” one comment read.
“Lmaooooo that so wrong but also hilarious at the same time,” another fan wrote.
“Who paid him to write that because Clark is not needed to beat Japan?” one fan wrote.
“Women’s national team is going to be just fine without CC just like the Men’s team will be fine without Jaylen Brown,” the comment read.
Team USA Women’s Basketball Secures First Win Without Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly a standout player on the USA’s women’s basketball team, but even without her, the team showcased its immense talent by securing their first win.
The game began slowly, with Team USA struggling to score. However, they soon found their rhythm and displayed their dominance on the court. A’ja Wilson was the main contributor in leading the team to victory, scoring 24 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Breanna Stewart added 22 points and eight rebounds to the win. Chelsea Gray played a crucial role as well, ending the game with an impressive 13 assists.
With this win under their belt, Team USA looks ahead to their next match against Belgium on Thursday.
