Popular for playing the Norse God of Asgard, Thor, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth started his acting career in the early 2000s, and almost a decade later, the actor was making his way to the Hollywood A-list. While he is widely known as Thor of the MCU, things weren’t always the same for the actor. At times, it got so challenging that he thought of quitting the dream that he wanted to accomplish and support his parents.

The actor opened up about his struggles during his initial years in Hollywood in a recent interview with Entrepreneur. Hemsworth shared that he was living at his manager’s guest house, who was aware of the challenges he was facing at the time.
While the Extraction star anticipated things to work out, it did not go as per his expectations, and he constantly failed his auditions. “Eight months, nine months with sort of nothing — and the feedback was getting worse,” he told Entrepreneur.

The actor also shared that while staying rent-free at his manager’s house, he started questioning everything and considered flying back to his home for the Holidays and probably never coming back. However, there was still one thing that kept him going.
Chris Hemsworth’s Parents Were His Motivation
Born to a high-school teacher and social services counselor, Chris Hemsworth grew up in a loving family with his two brothers, Liam Hemsworth and Luke Hemsworth. However, the actor has opened up about his family’s financial struggles on several occasions.

Although he pursued an acting career due to his love for movies and TV shows, one of the reasons to do so was also to support his family financially. “A big reason I started acting was because I loved film and TV, but it was like we had no money,” he said during an interview with Variety before further stating, “I wanted to pay off their house, initially. That was my sort of thing.”
And it was the only reason that motivated him not to quit. The actor questioned himself about his purpose behind moving to Los Angeles, and when he thought of his parents, he kept pushing ahead. And over two decades later, Hemsworth has become an established actor with a net worth of $130 million.
