PARIS (WNDU) – Notre Dame alum Yared Nuguse has won a bronze medal for Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
Nuguse finished third in the men’s 1500m final on Tuesday with a time of 3:27.80. He was less than a hundredth of a second behind silver medalist Josh Kerr of Great Britain (3:27.79) and less than a second behind fellow American and gold medalist Cole Hocker of Indianapolis (3:27.65), who set a new Olympic record.
It’s the first time Team USA had had two medalists in the men’s 1500m in 112 years.
Nuguse’s bronze is the seventh medal at the Paris Olympics with Fighting Irish ties. Here’s a list of the other Notre Dame medalists at the games so far:
