The Chicago Sky star competes for a first WNBA championship in her debut season as a pro

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark

Dwayne Wade claims that Angel Reese only wants to be a good colleague to her Chicago Sky teammates as she turns to NBA advice to help guide her through her rookie season as a professional basketballer.

The 22-year-old, who graduated as an NCAA champion with the LSU Tigers, now continues her graft in Illinois and she looks to continue to integrate with her teammates, as Wade reveals this is her main goal.

“She’s owning it. She is owning who she is,” Wade told CBS. “She wants to be great, and she wants to be a great teammate.”

Wade won three NBA championships with the Miami Heat as well as becoming Finals MVP in 2006, and also went on to make 13 All-Star appearances as a shooting guard who recorded 23,165 points, 4933 rebounds and 5701 assists through a 16-season career.

So, he is well-positioned to give the Bayou Barbie advice on how to become a better player and a better professional and he revealed that’s exactly what he does as he bids to instil confidence in the Sky’s guard.

“And so, our conversations,” Wade added. “When we do talk, it’s about that and giving her that confidence to continue to be that.”

Wade enjoying the Clark-Reese rivalry

The WNBA has been catapulted into a new lease of life thanks to some exceptional developing talent coming through such as Reese but also Cameron Brink, Kamilla Kardoso and Caitlin Clark, the latter already forging a rivalry with the Sky’s ace.

Their performances through college and into their debut pro seasons has sold out arenas across the United States and landed some big money deals from companies such as Nike as people pay newfound interest to the women’s game and Wade is full of praise for the pair.

“The women showed up when the lights were the brightest,” Wade added of Clark and Reese’s rivalry. “And that started back last year when Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark had that national championship moment.”

Wade is referring to the 2023 NCAA Women’s Division I championship game when Reese was spotted gloating to Clark about the LSU Tigers’ inevitable win over the Iowa Hawkeyes, which seems to have inspired both to kick on in their careers.
