One person has died after at least 22 victims were shot in the tragic attack, Kansas City Police Department confirmed on Wednesday.

Three people have been detained for investigation regarding today’s shooting, KCPD Chief Stacey Graves said.

It comes after Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the rest of the Chiefs addressed the crowd in downtown Kansas City following the two-mile parade.

Andy Reid’s side beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 to secure a dramatic overtime victory in Las Vegas.

Firearms have been recovered

“We have recovered firearms,” Graves said at the press conference, but couldn’t say much more.

“I don’t have a number for you or a caliber. We have recovered firearms.”

“We are deeply saddened by the senseless shooting that occurred today near the end of the rally in Kansas City for the Chiefs,” the statement said.

According to NFL reporter Albert Breer, Blaine Gabbert, Tre Smith, Austin Reiter, and Chris Oladukun all rallied to help their fans calm down after the hectic situation.

Smith was seen going up to a young fan and giving him the WWE belt that he wore before sitting down with him until he calmed down.

Police are investigating video
Kansas City police have addressed the video where Chiefs fans were seen tackling someone in the chaotic scene at the parade.

When asked if one of the three people in police custody might have been the tackled person in the video, Chief Stacey Graves said police are investigating the issue.

“We are working to determine if one of the three are the one that was in that video, where fans assisted police,” Graves said.

No motive known
Chief Stacey Graves says that right now, a motive isn’t known.

Police ask anyone with information to contact authorities as they work on a centralized phone number for victims, evidence, video, and any witness accounts to be shared.
