Now that he’s completely immersed in her world, he’s gained his own set of followers — and they’re demonstrating their support for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. While they may have showed their allegiance at Chiefs games before the season ended, they’ve also begun to exhibit it during Swift’s Eras Tour gigs.
Swift’s followers have dressed up in #87 shirts as she tours Australia and Singapore. Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, have taken note. “There was a good amount,” Travis said to his brother on this week’s episode of their New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast. “There’s a good American football crowd out there [in Australia]. And, I think, just Taylor fans, so they wanted to show their support.”
Jason asked his brother how it felt to see his jersey at all these shows, to which Travis replied, “It’s pretty f—ing cool to just have your jersey being worn, even it’s just on a day or at a football game.” Kelce, 34, also praised Swift, 34, after his trip to Australia to watch her during her Eras Tour.
“A lot of false media being tossed out there. But I’ll tell you what wasn’t false, and it was when I landed in Australia and seen all the cameras,” Travis said. Describing the zoo he visited in Sydney with Swift, the NFL star added, “There were full-on helicopters just flying around. They helicoptered us! Well, not us, Taylor.”
“This is all because Taylor is the biggest and the best thing possible,” Travis added.
Swift, according to Chiefs defensive coordinator Dave Merritt, is an excellent player who has had a “positive” influence on Travis. Merritt, 52, joined on an edition of The Sports Shop Podcast With Reese & K-Mac at the end of February to discuss the “Karma” singer’s impact.
“I felt like she actually added to what it was that we were trying to do,” Merritt began.
Explaining that “because there were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on TV,” the Chiefs players and coaches accepted her as “part of our family because you’re with Travis.”
“So you’re our little sister… “You’re a member of our family,” Merritt added. The Kansas City defensive coach stated that Swift “actually affected the team in a positive way” during the season. “It was not in a bad manner. Everyone was enthusiastic, and Travis was pleased. So when my player, a brother, is happy beside me, it helps and motivates me, and Travis walked in as a different man. So she assisted us.”
