Following the grand success of his last Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, he has been away from his superhero glamour. He has already planned to take a step back from his globally recognized role if Marvel is unable to meet one condition.
Tom Holland Teased About His Future in The Spider-Man Franchise
Tom Holland made his big debut as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America: Civil War (2016). Since then, he has been actively reprising his role and even got to lead three films with the third one, Spider-Man: No Way Home becoming a major success.
Given that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have been laying the groundwork for the Spider-Man franchise, it is for sure that the fourth sequel is going to happen. While the actor is set to reprise his role in the MCU, he is being quite cautious about his future in the franchise.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment (via Kevin Polowy,) he shared his thoughts on returning to his role as a friendly neighborhood spidey.
“If we can’t find a way to compete with the third one, he’ll swing off into the sunset.”

The 2021 film had already raised the bar high for the next stories that are yet to be revealed in the franchise, which is also what our Peter Parker actor is going to see. From his statement, it looks like he is going to wait for a good story before making up his mind to return to the franchise.
Will Tom Holland be Up for Another Spider-Man Film?
While his return remains an intriguing question for the fans, he addressed reprising his MCU role in an interview with ET. Adding to what it would take for him to continue being a web-slinger, he stated,
“I think as long as we can do justice to Peter Parker. As long as we can keep elevating and making the films better and making them mean more, then I’ll be there.”
He continued,
“I’d be stupid to say that I wouldn’t be the luckiest kid alive if I got to do it again, there’s stuff going on, but we’ll have to just wait and see what happens.”
Though his web-slinger journey is yet to finish, he announced a break from acting after producing and starring in The Crowded Room. The show touched him on several levels which was “hard” for him.
The Crowded Room is available on Apple+ meanwhile Spider–Man: No Way Home is now streaming on Starz.
