Will Smith has already been to the very top of the film industry, and he was there for a while. He got there quickly, becoming famous as the main character on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as a 22-year-old.

Smith went on to appear in a boatload of blockbuster movies like Men in BlackAliBad Boys and much more. But along the way, he appeared to lose himself and his essence. At least, that’s what he revealed during a recent media appearance on the Full Send Podcast.

Will Smith explains the dark “abyss” that comes with women, drugs and money

Will Smith speaks about an “abyss” fueled by fame and material things

Smith spoke clearly and candidly about reaching the pinnacle of the material world, what he calls the “cliff top“. It was his version of rock bottom, in which he had experienced everything there was to experience.

But it wasn’t fulfilling enough, and he needed to delve deeper into his own self in order to truly achieve happiness. In order to get there, Smith mentions that he had to “detox“.

For him, what that meant was forgetting about the material and looking inwards. He seems to have found peace within himself, and he’s much better off because of it.
