Katy Perry took a tumble on Sunday’s episode of American Idol when she fell out of her chair while wearing an Ariel costume.

The 37-year-old pop star was dressed as The Little Mermaid character for Disney Night on the ABC singing competition show.

Katy had trouble walking in the rigid costume and was helped by fellow judges Lionel Richie, 72, and Luke Bryan, 45, and host Ryan Seacrest, 47, as she took her center seat a the judges’ table.

They wheeled Katy in using a dolly and helped the singer get in her chair.

Ryan then started to introduce the first contestant, but was interrupted by a crashing noise.

‘Oh!’,’ Ryan remarked as the camera showed Katy upended with her fish tail only up in the air.

Luke pointed and laughed at Katy before joining Lionel and Ryan in helping her up.

‘Are you okay? Are you alright?,’ Ryan asked, as Katy replied ‘yes’.

‘She’s alright,’ Ryan said as they lifted her up and got her back into her chair. while the audience then broke out into a ‘Katy! Katy! Katy!’ chant as she smiled.

Twitter reacted immediately with people posting about her pratfall as they quipped the singer should not have been given a chair with wheels.

Katy has been a judge on American Idol since 2018.

Elsewhere on the episode, Luke Bryan paid tribute to late country music star Naomi Judd as the field narrowed to the final seven.

The 45-year-old country singer took a moment to remember Judd, who died on Saturday the day before her induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, after contestant HunterGirl, 23, performed.

‘While I have the microphone, I want to send out prayers to the Judd family, because country music lost, because you are out here and you’re going to carry the torch of country music,’ Luke said to country music singer HunterGirl.

‘The country music family lost Naomi Judd yesterday and I think it was just my heart. And I know everybody’s heart goes out to the Judd family,’ Luke said.

The singer’s daughters Wynona and Ashley issued a statement saying they ‘lost their beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness’ and attended the induction ceremony together on Sunday for The Judds.

The mother-daughter performers scored 14 No. 1 songs in a career that spanned nearly three decades.

After rising to the top of country music, they called it quits in 1991 after doctors diagnosed Naomi with hepatitis.
