Clark and Reese go head-to-head from half court
The matchup between Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky took place at the Footprint Center during an exciting practice before the WNBA All-Star Game. Reese, the No. 7 pick in this year’s WNBA draft, impressed everyone.
Both rookies will be present in this big game in their first season in the league, something that surely excites the two players who have had a rivalry since college basketball. On this occasion Reese beat Clark from half court and unleashed the enthusiasm of her teammates, while Clark walked in silence.
Reese beats Clark from half court
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, who have been in the spotlight in the WNBA, are set to face off in Saturday’s game against the star-studded Team USA.
During Friday’s practice, Angel Reese took the title of best shooter from half court against Caitlin Clark. Reese sank her shot, while Clark missed hers, marking a highlight in their first professional showdown.
The rivalry between Reese and Clark has deep roots dating back to college days. In the 2023 NCAA championship, Reese led the LSU Tigers to victory over Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes, earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award. However, in the 2023-24 season, Clark got her revenge by knocking off Reese in the Elite Eight, shutting down her rival’s collegiate career.
Now in the WNBA, the rivalry has intensified through three meetings between their teams. In a June 16 game, Clark was hit in the head by Reese, who received a flagrant foul for the action. This followed an incident earlier in June where the Sky’s Chennedy Carter knocked Clark down, prompting Reese to jump off the bench to applaud.
In practice, in addition to half-court shots, both players demonstrated their pick-and-roll skills, showing their skill and potential in the game.
Despite the tension and rivalry, Clark and Reese will team up in Saturday’s highly anticipated showdown at the All-Star Game. Clark, who averages 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game, is excited for the opportunity to play with Reese.
Recently, Caitlin set a WNBA record with 19 assists in a single game, although her team suffered a loss to the Dallas Wings.
The weekend promises to be a show full of talent and rivalry, with these two young stars showcasing their skills on the WNBA’s biggest stage.
