Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese Led WNBA All-Star Game in Assists and Rebounds
The WNBA All-Star Game went just as Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark predicted, with fellow rookie Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky leading the contest in rebounds. But Clark also was the top performer in the game with her trademark assists. It wasn’t really tough to prognosticate either stat given both first-year players lead the league in those respective categories on the season. However, it sure was fun to watch.
Clark wowed fans with some unreal dimes early to her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston and New York Liberty star Jonquel Jones. CC has been a record-setter when it comes to generating points off dimes this year as her court vision is truly awe inspiring at times. She finished the exhibition win over Team USA with 10 assists, one short of tying Sue Bird’s all-time record.
Meanwhile Reese got right to work on the glass upon entering the game. Angel appropriately scored her first basket on a put back and continued to dominate the boards throughout. Reese is particularly a menace when it comes to offensive rebounds and her relentless pursuit of the basketball was on display for everyone to see. She finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, a double-double, which has become the norm.
There had obviously been a lot of anticipation about seeing the two players on the floor together as teammates and the results did not disappoint. Angel stated during the game that she wants to play with Caitlin on the Olympic team in 2028. If that is indeed the case, there’s a good chance we will also see Team USA led in assists and rebounds by Clark and Reese respectively. Not to mention some nice connections like the one that took place at the All-Star Game in Phoenix, since the pair look good enough to be Olympians right now.
