Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid took a hysterical shot at the Las Vegas Raiders for taunting his quarterback.

The Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs have emerged as the NFL’s golden franchise, with three Super Bowl championships in the last five years. And when you’re winning repeatedly, you will naturally become increasingly loathed by your opponents.

Case in point: The Raiders’ risky decision to taunt Mahomes and his “Kermit the Frog” voice during a recent team practice. Rookie Trey Taylor was filmed mocking Mahomes with his teammates, using a Kermit puppet that featured a Mahomes jersey and wig:

Jonathan Jones of CBS got to chat with Andy Reid about the Raiders’ mockery of his star quarterback. Though Reid usually avoids trash talk, he couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a jab at the Chiefs’ AFC West rivals.

“We don’t spend a lot of time here with puppets,” Reid said. “We try to do our work and try to get better, you know. That’s the important thing.”

Per Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, Mahomes told reporters that the puppet saga with the Raiders will “get handled when it gets handled.” The first of two meetings between Kansas City and Las Vegas is scheduled for Week 8 (Oct. 27) in Sin City at 4:25 p.m. EST).

Andy Reid Has Owned Raiders As Chiefs Head Coach

The Chiefs have been the class of the AFC West since Reid arrived as head coach 11 years ago. Kansas City has its way with all three of its divisional opponents, but the Raiders have especially struggled against Reid’s squad.

Kansas City is 10-2 against the Raiders since Mahomes took over as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback in 2018. Before that, Reid went 8-2 against the Raiders over his first five years (2013 t o 2017) as KC’s head coach.

So it’s not a good idea for the Raiders to be poking a coach and quarterback that have dominated them for a decade now. Fans of the Silver and Black better hope that their team is ready to play when they welcome Kansas City to Allegiant Stadium in three months.
