VIDEO: Patrick Mahomes says Taylor Swift ‘attention’ hasn’t changed Travis Kelce: ‘He’s just been himself’

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised his teammate Travis Kelce, stating that dating Taylor Swift hasn’t changed him. Mahomes said that Kelce still treats everyone as if they’re his best friend, both in the stadium and in the locker room.

Despite the attention he’s received from millions of Swift fans, Kelce has remained true to himself. The rising fame that comes with dating Swift has been Kelce’s lifelong dream.

The couple went public with their relationship in September 2023, which led to a spike in Kelce’s jersey sales. He then made a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in October 2023, joking about the NFL’s obsession with his relationship with Swift.

Kelce believes Swift is his lucky charm, as the Chiefs have won several games she has attended. If the Chiefs win their upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens, they will secure a spot at the 2024 Super Bowl. Brands are willing to pay Kelce up to $1 million for appearances, as he brings a lot of attention.

Travis Kelce frustrated by the hate Taylor Swift, Patrick Mahomes and his family received in Buffalo

Travis Kelce admitted his frustration about the abuse his girlfriend Taylor Swift, teammate Patrick Mahomes, and his family received at a recent NFL match.

The match against the Buffalo Bills away from home in was an extremely tense occasion, with so much on the line for both teams.

But Kelce, while acknowledging that fans can get rowdy in big matches, felt that the hate was over the top, although he refrained from giving specific examples.

He spoke about it on the podcast he shares with his brother Jason Kelce, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.

“There was a lot of hate pulling up to that stadium. Understandable. The Bills, we’re coming into their house, they want to make it rowdy. Did it get a little disrespectful? 1000 percent. Did it get a little extra? 1000 percent,” Kelce said on his and Jason’s New Heights podcast.

“I’m not going to say [what was said], because that’s what they want. I’m not going to relay it, but some things were said about the family. Some pretty inappropriate things were said about Pat Mahomes. It was pretty whack.”

He admitted that such fiery atmospheres are normal when “coming into a hostile environment” but the feeling wasn’t mutual.

“I respect it but I just wanted to make sure that they knew it wasn’t mutual. I don’t hate you like you hate us, it’s all love baby,” he stated.

Kelce’s SNL rejection

Kelce recently faced a more humorous situation, after being refused entry to a Saturday Night Live (SNL) afterparty in 2022.

The incident occurred despite Kelce’s later successful hosting of SNL on March 4, 2023.

SNL cast member Punkie Johnson explained that she had to intervene and rescue Kelce after he encountered obstacles trying to enter the post-show gathering.

“The crazy thing is he came to the show, we saw him at the show, and then he goes to the afterparty and he’s just looking. I’m like, ‘Oh that’s Travis Kelce’ and they’re like, ‘You can’t get in, bro. You’re not on the list’,” Johnson recalled.

“I went over there and I was like, ‘This is a Super Bowl champion! He is the greatest tight end in the NFL!’ I was saying everything he should’ve said. I was like, ‘He’s on my list. C’mon Travis!’”

Kelce and Swift were later seen together at an SNL afterparty following his second appearance on the show, which drew attention due to their relationship
