Despite receiving very little playing time, rookie Nika Muhl is one of the more popular players on the Seattle Storm. Drafted with the No. 14 pick in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft, Muhl earned herself a roster spot on a Storm team that is capable of contending for a championship.
On Tuesday, the Storm made a roster update that caused anxiety among Muhl’s fans. Upon closer inspection, however, it became clear that the update did not affect the former UConn Huskies star, much to the relief of Muhl’s supporters.
The news was that Seattle had waived guard Kiana Williams, who originally joined the team in 2021.

Williams was the No. 18 pick in the second round of the 2021 WNBA Draft. Before her professional career, Williams was an NCAA Champion with the Stanford Cardinal. She was on her third stint with the Storm, but none of them lasted very long.
After reading the entire update, fans shared their initial concerns for Muhl online.
“Read roster update and my stomach dropped. Nika survives yet another waive.”
“I got so scared for a [second].”
“Thought it was Nika.”

“OH MY GOD I JUMPED!”
“[Nika’s] next, I fear.”
Muhl received her most playing time in a single game this season during Seattle’s win over the Dallas Wings on Monday. She has yet to score her first points in the WNBA, and fans have been pleading with Seattle to play her more.
