Fans would certainly assume that Daniel Craig did a lot of rigorous trainings to get his body in tip-top shape for his role as James Bond. While this is certainly true, the British star’s workout routine was designed to make him more athletic than chiseled. Besides, being 007 is all about agility and endurance.
Daniel Craig as James Bond
To turn Craig into the perfect James Bond, he followed a diet and gym plan that is not outrageous at all, unlike Chris Hemsworth who tremendously regrets his transformation in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Daniel Craig Followed A Regular Workout Routine For James Bond
As mentioned, Daniel Craig trained like an athlete during his tenure as James Bond. In an interview with Men’s Health, physical trainer Simon Waterson revealed what he did to make Craig’s stunts in the movie as seamless as possible. He said:
“We used a lot of our own natural bodyweight exercises. His physique is there to perform a function. That function just happens to be sprinting up stairs, hopping over the balustrade and into a fight sequence, out of a door, smashing through another door and into a car, and driving off. It has to look seamless and effortless, so we condition that in the gym.”
Waterson also enumerated the dense and complex routines that Craig followed to achieve a certain level of agility that is fit for a famed spy agent. The trainer continued:
“We used a lot of resistance bands because we used them for stretching and a lot of cones and hurdles for agility-based exercises. [Such as] weaving through cones, jumping over hurdles and onto a plyo box, then onto a Bosu for stability. It’s the repetition of doing that and then sprinting. He’s trying to get that agility.”

It seems already like a hectic work for the actor with all these physical drills, but he also needed to maintain his weight and recover from the day’s burnout. Waterson told The Times via Daily Mail:
“Daniel started the day with rye bread, poached eggs, avocado and kimchi, maybe some kale. And turmeric shots. Then it’s lemon and ginger shots and off to work we go. Oh and, you know, a coffee.”
Daniel Craig made sure he consumed five to six meals a day of various healthy foods recommended by his trainer. This way, his metabolism will work better and faster, ensuring he gets fueled up for his next training session.
Chris Hemsworth Was Unhappy With His Body In Thor: Love And Thunder
Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Love and Thunder
Chris Hemsworth’s transformation was far different from Daniel Craig since he was achieving a god-like physique. Indeed, the Australian star looked insanely bulked in Thor: Love and Thunder. He notably consumed 4,500 calories per day, which is similar to eating every two hours.
Hemsworth shared in Marvel’s Assembled documentary via Insider the process of pulling off this look for the character of Thor. The Extraction star said:
“Each time I’ve played the character and put the muscle on and out the size on, and then lost it for something else and played another character, there’s muscle memory, and I used to say it sort of got easier each time.”
Chris Hemsworth’s body transformation
But this time, he needed to be noticeably bigger and even stronger than before. Hemsworth recalled how extremely exhausting the task was:
“This was particularly hard. I think because the target weight we aimed for was quite always above where I’d been before. It was a really fun exploration, but I don’t know that I wanna get that big again.”
The actor was seemingly unhappy with the routine he had to follow, and he also noted that he started feeling more fatigued due to his age:
“It was train, eat, train, eat. Nothing else to do. Then I turned up for the film bigger than I’ve ever been. It was just exhausting. I don’t know, maybe I’m getting old, but things just started to hurt more.”
Hemsworth consumed eight to ten meals a day, and each meal was broken down to 450 calories. The actor would spend his day working and eating, and when he got home, he would hit the remainder of the diet and workout plan.
