The View’s Whoopi Goldberg has unleashed her fury on Democrats after she claimed they pushed President Joe Biden out of the 2024 election.

Biden announced he was finally stepping out of the presidential race and instead endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place at the top of the ticket.

The announcement came following weeks of pressure from top Democrats but Goldberg believes they sent a bad message to older Americans. ‘The messaging that we have put out to people over a certain age is horrific. We have basically said, “Hey, you know what? We kind of think if you’re over a certain age, you don’t really have what it takes to do the job that you’re doing.” That’s the messaging that we put out, I’m bored by hearing that,’ Goldberg started.

‘I would have preferred my Democrats to do this not publicly and in everybody’s face,’ Goldberg went on. ‘What it did was it had us sitting, having to talk about this endlessly.’

Goldberg’s co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Trump aide and the token Republican on the long-running ABC gabfest’s panel defended how the entire process had played out in public stressing how the job of the presidency is ‘so different than any other job’ – but Goldberg pushed back.

‘Again, it is saying to people of a certain age, because that’s what the messaging has been. “You’re old. You’re doddering” It really pissed me off. Not because I’m as close. But because I felt it was disrespectful,’ she explained. The Oscar-winning actress then fired a warning to other Democrats who might be considering challenging Harris for the nomination – in particular West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, a former Democrat who now sits as an Independent.

‘I am trusting that we’re not going to have a problem here because this is what everybody said they wanted to happen. Mr. Manchin, don’t even think about it,’ Goldberg said. Manchin has said that he considered re-registering as a Democrat to make a run for the nomination following Biden’s announcement.

‘We don’t want you. We don’t want you. We saw what you did. Go on and stay wherever you are,’ Goldberg demanded. ‘I started to speak as if I was a speaking head for the Democrats. I’m a speaking head for Whoopi, sit down,’ she added.

Later on Monday Manchin said that he was not going to challenge Harris, but suggested there should be a more of a competitive nomination process among Democrats and that the party should run a ‘mini-primary’.
