Jada Pinkett Smith revealed she and Will Smith had been separated since 2016, but the couple have not decided to initiate divorce proceedings and are trying to figure out their relationship

Will Smith reportedly feels “emasculated” by wife Jada Pinkett Smith as she completely “blindsided” him.

The Girls Trip actress revealed last month that she and the Oscar-winning actor had been separated since 2016, and they were in fact estranged and not living together during Will’s infamous slap incident at the Academy Awards. Jada made the shocking confession when promoting her new book Worthy, and the couple have yet to make an official statement regarding the future of their relationship.

Despite laying low since the bombshell revelation, Will is reportedly considering ending their marriage, and the King Richard star has been “humiliated” following the revelations, and “wants a divorce”. An insider told Heat magazine that the 55-year-old is fed up, and wasn’t consulted by Jada before she made the details of their separation public.

However, their combined $400 million fortune is up for grabs, meaning Will is reportedly looking at his options before walking away from his marriage to Jada. “He’s hurt and angry, and this is the final straw. He wants to divorce and end the charade. He also wants to make room in his life for a real relationship, even though a part of him will always love Jada, that ship has sailed,” the insider explained.

Will was also left devastated when Jada discussed her shock at the Men In Black star referring to her as his “wife” when he confronted Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars in 2021. “We had been living separate lives and were there as family, not as husband and wife,” she wrote in her book, adding that Will hadn’t called her his wife since 2016.

The Nutty Professor star also recalled the moment she knew their marriage was ending, and it was around the time of her 40th birthday. In her memoir, Jada remembered the “turmoil” she felt as her milestone birthday approached. “Adding to my distress, Will and I weren’t in a good place and hadn’t been for a while,” she wrote.

“I couldn’t make it right no matter how hard I tried. We couldn’t hear or see each other – at all. Confiding in my close friends seemed unfair to them, and to Will and me,” she continued.
