WNBA legend Breanna Stewart reveals her pick for most impressive rookie – and it’s NOT Caitlin Clark!

Future WNBA Hall of Famer and New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart revealed which rookie has impressed her the most so far and it is not Caitlin Clark.

The Indiana Fever’s rookie sensation has drawn much of the spotlight while bringing eyes to the league at the same time. However, her performances proved insufficient to be the most impressive newcomer for the reigning league MVP.

During an appearance on Flau’jae Johnson’s Best of Both Worlds podcast, Stewart shared which first-year player has established herself best this season.

‘I think Angel [Reese], the way that she is constantly working hard, doing all of the dirty work right now,’ said Stewart.

‘Rebounding, steals, making sure she’s in all the action in whatever way she can help her team.’

Johnson’s former LSU teammate immediately became one of the league’s best rebounders despite her rookie status. Reese leads all players with 11.8 boards per game and has set a league record with 11 consecutive double-doubles.

Her impressive numbers earned Reese a spot on the WNBA All-Star team. Alongside Clark, the college rivals will team up for the first time after being named to the prestigious team as rookies.

The WNBA All-Stars will take on Stewart and the rest of the United States women’s national team before they head to the Olympic games in Paris.

With a talent-stacked rookie class, the MVP gave Clark and LA Sparks forward Cameron Brink honorable mentions.

‘Obviously, Caitlin, the way that she just come in and continuing to kind of get Indiana back where they were as far as the attendance and stuff like that,’ Stewart said. ‘You know, like, she has range like no other.’

‘Cam, it’s similar [to Reese], kind of just stuffing the stat sheet,’ she added about Brink. ‘Blocks, rebounds, and letting the rest come. They’re just learning and figuring out what they can be on the court.’

Stewart and the Liberty will take on Clark and the Fever on Saturday after Indiana’s record-breaking game against the Las Vegas Aces.

The Liberty will then face Reese and the Sky in back-to-back games on the 11th and 13th of July.
