Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will start their journey to win a third consecutive Super Bowl by playing a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this upcoming Saturday.

Although Mahomes is unlikely to play much in any of the preseason games, his teammates will get an opportunity to prove their worth. The Chiefs quarterback arrived at the team’s training camp on July 16 and has been participating actively with the rookies and other veterans who joined later.

Training camps are intense, sometimes leading to skirmishes between teammates. Mahomes had to intervene today, separating Drue Tranquill from the team’s offense as the linebacker was visibly angry.

Although the real reason behind Tranquill’s anger is not revealed yet, Charles Goodman, who previously worked for KC Sports Network said that the linebacker got his helmet ripped off after Rashee Rice threw the ball at the defense after a long drive. He wrote:

“A brief scuffle at #Chiefs practice. Looked like Rashee Rice threw a ball at the defense after the play. Some shoving ensued. Think Drue Tranquill got his helmet ripped off. Didn’t last all of 30 seconds before they broke it up and got back to work.”

Tranquill is an important part of the Chiefs’ defense, and his aggressiveness in the training camp is a positive sign for the franchise. After an impressive campaign last season, the soon-to-be 29-year-old linebacker signed a three-year, $19 million contract extension with the Chiefs this offseason.

Such videos will further excite the Chiefs fans, who are eagerly looking forward to the start of the season. The AFC West franchise is aiming to become the first team in the NFL’s history to three-peat as Super Bowl champions, and they have a roster that is more than capable of doing it.

Patrick Mahomes will be more motivated than ever to win another Super Bowl

The NFL recently released the list of the top 100 players from last season ranked by the players themselves, and surprisingly, Patrick Mahomes was ranked as the fourth-best player. Christian McCaffrey, Lamar Jackson, and Tyreek Hill were ranked ahead of him even though the Chiefs defeated all three players in the playoffs during their Super Bowl-winning campaign last season.

Mahomes will be more motivated than ever to prove his critics wrong once again, and now that the Chiefs have a good offense, expect the two-time NFL MVP to put up big numbers across the board.

The Chiefs’ Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens is still about a month away. Recently, Mahomes was seen at a Morgan Wallen concert in Kansas City with his wife Brittany Mahomes, and other notable members of the Chiefs’ franchise.

Last season, the Chiefs quarterback threw for 183 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 16 games with a passer rating of 92.6. The numbers were a tad bit down considering Patrick Mahomes’ lofty standards, but he will be a lot better this season.
