Rapper Jaden Smith apparently was squarely in his father’s corner after actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face during the Academy Awards.

‘And that’s how we do it!’ Jaden, 23, tweeted after the show, adding in a since-deleted post: ‘My Dads Speech Made Me Cry.’

Will, 53, struck Oscars presenter Rock in a stunning meltdown on stage during Sunday’s ceremony after the comedian cracked a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s buzzcut. The 50-year-old actress is currently battling autoimmune disorder alopecia, which can cause hair loss and balding.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum then used his acceptance speech for his first Academy Award to defend storming onto the Oscars stage and slapping Rock.

Tears streamed down his face as he said: ‘Love makes you do crazy things,’ before admitting that being a Hollywood star means you should be able to ‘have people disrespecting you’.

Will won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the determined father who raised tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams, in ‘King Richard.’

The couple’s daughter, Willow Smith, 21, has not publicly commented on her father’s outburst but did post an image of herself to Instagram.

Jaden’s tweet has been retweeted more than 42,000 times and was met with mixed response from social media users.

Some alleged the Summertime in Paris singer was a hypocrite because earlier this month he tweeted: ‘Praying For Peace In The World.’

Others outright criticized Jaden for his remarks.

‘No it’s not how you do it,’ commented hip-hop artist Ruslan.

‘Jaden. Really? Will was in tears after he slapped Chris. And has to be consoled by Denzel and Tyler. That’s not how we do it. That’s not how we do at all,’ wrote Twitter user @irishman3370.

‘No sir. It’s not. Chris was very wrong but so was Will. Let’s acknowledge where we go wrong pliz,’ added @emilynick1. ‘It’s a No No. And am a huge fan. Any way I hope y’all solve this issue but it has overshadowed Will’s win. I ain’t happy at all but he deserved the award.’

‘Could have been done a bit more peacefully man. I agree that Chris made a HORRIBLE joke, but instead of nearly punching him and cussing him out, Will could have went up on stage, talked to him about alopecia, tell him it’s a serious condition, and well, Smith would be a hero,’ noted @HarrisonBecker7.

However, despite the skepticism, some Twitter users defended Jaden’s comments and Will’s actions.

‘I’d be proud if my dad stood up for my mom,’ wrote @thestatman1987.

‘Imma stand up for my dad and mom as well, and we’ll deal with the consequences later. I’m just saying….’ echoed @Michell00401888.

‘I think Will reacted the right way,’ argued @mirrorslouie. ‘Chris disrespected Jada and her condition and he defended his wife. Chris knew he was in the wrong and deserved that, that’s why he didn’t fight back.’

User @morning__gl0ry added: ‘You do what you do for your family. If someone were dissing my partner in front of the whole world I would have done the exact same thing.’

While Willow has not addressed the incident, she did, however, post a series of photos to her Instagram page modeling a black-and-red jeweled outfit, acting as if nothing happened.

Social media users hit back at the Whip My Hair hitmaker, leaving comments such as ‘How’s daddy doin’ and ‘Did you See What Your Dad Did.’

Others seemingly applauded Will’s actions, leaving positive comments about the actor on his daughter’s post.

‘You have the coolest dad,’ wrote @allan_mcallister.

‘AYO TELL YOUR DAD HES BEEN PROMOTED TO GOD,’ echoed @josephxchosen888.

‘Give your dad a hug,’ wrote @flowyvonne.

Instagram user @nadso35 added: ‘Your Dad is rockstar.’

The slap heard round the world occurred after Rock, who was introducing the award for Best Documentary, joked:  ‘Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya.’

Will initially laughed from his seat as Jada wore an unimpressed expression, prompting him to walk stage from his front-row seat and smack Rock, 57, with an open right hand.

The comedian staggered and exclaimed: ‘Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.’

Will, visibly emotional, walked back to his seat in the audience and shouted: ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.’

‘Wow, dude, it was a G.I. Jane joke,’ said Rock, referencing 1997 film starring Demi Moore, who shaved her head to portray Jordan O’Neil.

‘Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth!’ Will replied once again.

‘I’m going to, okay?’ the comedian answered, before adding: ‘That was the … greatest night in the history of television’ and presenting the award.

Despite the outburst, the Gemini Man actor was still allowed to make his acceptance speech, during which he apologized to the award show.

‘I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment,’ he said.

‘Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father. But love will make you do crazy things.’

Will acknowledged that as a public figure, he needs to have a thick skin in the face of criticisms and harsh commentary.

‘I know to do what we do you’ve got to be able to take abuse. You’ve got to be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business, you’ve got to be able to have people disrespecting you. And you’ve got to smile and pretend like that’s OK,’ he said.

Will then noted how he admired Richard Williams who ‘was a fierce defender of his family.’

‘I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people,’ the Academy Award winner added.

He concluded with: ‘I’m hoping the Academy invites me back.’

During the acceptance speech, Jada was beaming with pride. She and Will were also pictured embracing and nuzzling each other as he was declared winner of the Best Actor award.

After the slap, Will was seen being comforted and consoled by Denzel Washington and actor-producer Tyler Perry. Bradley Cooper also pulled Will aside and was seen in close conversation with him.

It is unclear what the celebrities said to him.

Meanwhile, officials have confirmed that Rock will not be pressing charges against Will.

In a statement issued to the Associated Press Sunday night, the Los Angeles Police Department said it was aware of the incident and not investigating at this time.

‘The incident involved one individual slapping another,’ the statement read.

‘The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.’
