Reese was previously suspended by the Louisiana State University Tigers

The Louisiana State University Tigers’ star Angel Reese had her latest contest in the women’s NCAA basketball, this time with an Iowa State Hawkeyes’ player.

Reese is highly talented and is even being mentored by NBA greats like Shaquille O’Neal in order to help her get into the women’s professional game, but she has also been surrounded in controversy at times due to her conflicts with her peers.

It culminated in her suspension in the 2023 season by the Tigers, during which she was said to have become a disruptive and divisive personality being made to sit out some games to think about her decisions.

Now, however, her recent battle with Caitlin Clark is actually a positive thing as they tied to win The Sporting News’ “Athlete of the Year” award, particularly for their impact on sports and their sport in particular.

“On the court, should Clark stay healthy and continue producing at her current, astronomical rate,” the publication wrote of the Hawkeyes’ player. “She will become the leading career scorer in Division I women’s history, passing Kelsey Plum of Washington sometime in late February.”

“Reese is the reigning Most Outstanding Player at the Women’s Final Four and a first-team All-American,” they said of the LSU athlete. “She ranked No. 2 in the nation in rebounding last season and No. 5 in scoring, and she set an NCAA record for double-doubles when she rang up her 34th in the title game.”

When Reese defeated Clark’s Iowa 102-85 in April 2022, she wasted no time in gloating directly to her face by waving her hand at her and pointing to her ring finger whilst the clock was still live.

The action took place in the NCAA women’s basketball championship game, with Reese clearly indicating she was a better player and had done more to win the crown over Clark.
