Cookie Settings

This page explains, in plain terms, what tin356.com stores in your browser and how to remove it. The short version: at launch we do not use tracking cookies or analytics, and the few things we save are there to make features work on your own device.

What we do not use

We have not set up advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, analytics tools or behavioural profiling. Nothing about your reading is sent to us. Because we do not use non-essential cookies, there is no cookie banner asking you to accept them.

What we store on your device

A few features use your browser's local storage. It is similar in spirit to a cookie, but it stays on your device and is not sent with requests to a server.

• theme: your choice of light or dark appearance.
• saved: the stories you bookmarked.
• newsletter: an email address you typed into a waiting-list form. No newsletter is currently being sent, and the address is not transmitted anywhere.
• poll and quiz: your answers to the reader poll and the news quiz.
• useful: stories you marked as useful.
• cookie-note: a placeholder for your choice, should we ever add optional cookies.

How to clear it

Use the button at the bottom of this page to remove everything TIN 356 has stored on this device. You can also clear site data through your browser's settings, usually under privacy or storage. Doing so will reset your saved stories, theme and waiting-list entry.

Third-party resources

Pages load fonts, icons, scripts and images from external servers. These requests reveal your IP address and basic browser information to those servers, as they would for any website. We choose them for function, not tracking, but we cannot control their own policies. Browser privacy settings can limit such loading.

If this changes

If we add analytics or any non-essential cookie in future, we will update this page and the privacy policy first, explain what is collected and why, and ask for your consent before anything is set. You will be able to change your mind at any time.

Questions about this page can go to [email protected], a placeholder address that will be confirmed before full launch.
