The Daily Morning Drop
A four-minute morning briefing: the plan, the format and the waiting list.Last updated: Oct 1, 2026
The Daily Morning Drop is our planned morning newsletter. It is not sending yet. This page describes what it will be, so you can decide whether you want it, and offers a waiting list that records your interest on your own device only. No emails will be sent to anyone until we announce that the newsletter has launched.
The idea
Most mornings, the internet offers too much. The Drop is meant to be the opposite: a short briefing you can finish with your coffee, written for people who are busy and curious. The target is four minutes of reading, which is a goal we will hold ourselves to.
What each issue would contain
- The lead story: one development that matters, explained in a few paragraphs.
- Three quick reads: short items with a line on why they matter.
- One thing to try: a small, practical suggestion for your day or project.
- A correction or clarification slot, used when we need to fix something published earlier.
The design is deliberately repetitive, so that you know where everything is. For a closer look at how we plan to choose stories and manage the length, read our behind-the-scenes piece on building the brief.
Timing
We are aiming to deliver at around 6:00 AM in your local time. That is the plan, not a guarantee. Delivery times will depend on the email service we choose and on the practicalities of sending worldwide, and we will tell you if the schedule changes.
The waiting list, honestly
The form below saves your email address in your browser's local storage on this device, and nowhere else. We do not receive it. When the newsletter is ready, we will choose an email provider, update the privacy policy and ask for your confirmation before anyone is added. If you would rather not leave an address at all, you can follow our stories through the RSS feed instead.
Sponsorship and cost
We intend the Drop to be free to read. It has no sponsors today. If we add sponsorship, it will be clearly labelled and kept separate from the editorial items, under the principles on the media kit page.
Unsubscribing
When the newsletter exists, every issue will include a one-step unsubscribe link, and we will honour requests immediately. We will not sell or share the list.
